A QUOTE (WITH APOLOGIES TO EL)

Fit the mold and do what you're told
Get a job and start growing old
9 to 5 can make your dreams come true (Aye Right!)
But I don't wanna be like you (And what part of don't do you not understand?)

(American Hi Fi The Art Of Losing and that's me that added the 'aye right!' And also 'and what part of don't do you not understand in case ye didna notice.)

I've
Felt
Like this
Since I started
Work in the factory
Nothing has
Changed

Artist: Black Lyrics
Song: Wonderful Life

Here I go out to sea again
The sunshine fills my hair
And dreams hang in the air

Gulls in the sky and in my blue eyes
You know it feels unfair
There's magic everywhere

Look at me standing
Here on my own again
Up straight in the sunshine

No need to run and hide
It's a wonderful, wonderful life
No need to hide and cry
It's a wonderful, wonderful life

Sun in your eyes
The heat is in your hair
They seem to hate you
Because you're there

And I need a friend
Oh, I need a friend
To make me happy
Not stand here on my own

Look at me standing
Here on my own again
Up straight in the sunshine

I need a friend
Oh, I need friend
To make me happy
Not so alone
Look at me here
Here on my own again
Up straight in the sunshine

This is deep, Sergio, very deep, but also so very...sad. And I cannot abide feeling sad.
I feel it’s my duty therefore – as your loyal komrade of the kollektive – to try cheer you up and lighten the mood.
So, here goes:
Did you know that Illya Kuryakin was the first lieutenant in the Russian navy to set an igloo on fire?
Are you laughing yet? No? I can always start an “UNCLE Quote of the Week” section if you’re not careful. You’ve been warned.

Axasha.

I know it is sad, I don't really like American Hi Fi, but the lyrics say so much. Uncle quote of the week great idea, but also sad?

Good choice, Conductor 71.

Can I just say that I was always quite partial to this line from Pulp’s Common People,
“…you’ll never watch your life slide out of view…”.

Hmmm. Yeah. That really speaks to me.

And now that I’m thoroughly depressed, I’m off to top myself…

Wonderful Life never really resonated with me at all, sorry, but Wake Up Boo - like Wake Up It's A Beautiful Morning..loved that fror some reason, but always thought it was a bit tongue in cheek.

I like Wonderful Life, brilliant! Nothing wrong with it Conductor71, don't agree with Sergio. You are a poser!

David,

Can't help but feel that you've got to the heart of the matter. Sergio the Poser! Heh.

Just kidding, Serge - or has your sartorially challenged past come back to haunt you?

Axasha.

The last couple of comments got me thinking about old favourites. One of these, from my angst ridden teens, was ‘Live it up’ by ‘Mental as Anything’, not least because the 7” single was shaped like a banana! Damn! I think the reference to vinyl may have somewhat given my age away!
